Brianna Wu - A Story of Enabled Narcissism

Brianna Wu is a peak GamerGate character that as time has gone on, has shown access media still shapes the narrative not only in gaming, but also in general culture and politics. Unfortunately for those that made her, they have chosen someone filled with internal struggle that is not always going to follow the talking points of the day.

Starting with a little background for those who are new to the Wu, almost no one would know who Brianna is had she not inserted herself into the GamerGate discussion. Almost all of Brianna's world presence has been due to aligning herself with the feminism in tech group claiming to want to help fight the great struggle with fellow women. This leads us to something we need to get cleared away from the start, Brianna Wu is trans in quite the obvious manner and access media's attempt to hide this fact is quite the "Four Lights" Star Trek moment to me. Star Trek: The Next Generation - Four Lights - Some may say it shouldn't matter, and I say those people are lying to themselves as when push comes to shove, you can't keep talking about your woman's experience when never were a woman and "what is a woman" debate aside, absolutely did not grow up as a woman in gaming as claimed.

GethN7 had some thoughts on this and was not even allowed to speak about it on medium.com let alone all the other sites where this obvious truth was suppressed. GethN7 summarizes the situation well noting: "if Racheal Dolezal had her life's work roasted over the coals for cosplaying as a black woman when she was white, then Wu, being just as much a celebrity as Dolezal, should be subjected to the same scrutiny for cosplaying as an actual woman instead of admitting they are a transwoman."

Brianna Wu visually, audibly, and in shared thoughts has shown every sign of being a classic late male to female trans person yet for whatever reason we were told we are a terrible person if pointing this out by the usual media suspects.

Many like to call these sites just conspiracy theories, alt-right trolls, etc, but just because you don't like the source, doesn't make it not true. Some entries definitely get overly sassy in the commentary, but I think key points noted with sufficient overall evidence include:

  • -Brianna Walker Wu was born male as John Walker Flynt to wealthy parents living a privileged life.
  • -At the age of 19 was given $200,000 to attempt to create an animation studio that quickly failed.
  • -In early college years was republican, aid examples including interned for Senator Trent 
    Lott.
  • -Was in college education for approx 10 years and did not complete a single degree
  • -Behavior in college was erratic enough to be stand-out memorable / documented
  • -Claimed became frustrated with Republican party over LGBT rights, was disowned by parents due to this and was then homeless in 2005.
  • -Started transitioning from male to female around 2005 and had some form of sex reassignment surgery in 2008.
  • -Around the time of transitioning begins to declare disgust for Christians and the South in general (declaring all are racist) 
  • -Became married to Frank Wu around 2007, Frank being a biotech patent agent is likely the source of main capital for most of Brianna's projects from there on.
  • -Example of new SJW political concerns: June 15th, 2008 - spacekatgal - Gays and Women
  • -Giant SpaceKat Studios/Chessboard Holdings, LLC. founded in 2010, has only released one game, Revolution 60, that was an objective failure
  • -Has been removed from moderation role from multiple groups / forums due to bullying behavior and lying. (Susan's Palace / GamerGhazi)

Brianna clearly had difficulty accepting trans reality early on, from her writing in Trans Forums 2007: Susan's Place Transgender Resources 1

Notably for later, she shows support for non-binary and intersex here being declared trans, because that is the only acceptable stance on reddit. 

Later Brianna would also claim growing up "queer" since that term has lost all meaning. WP - Video games don’t cause mass shootings. But gamer culture encourages hate.

Other obvious signs of being trans was that Brianna constantly advocated for trans issues and topics ever since was actively posting on the internet. I've got better things to do than to compile them all, but some quick examples:

On the trans conversation a notable example of infamy was Brianna did a rage bait article trying to declare Metroid's Samus was a trans woman, literally titled "Metroid’s Samus Aran is a Transgender Woman. Deal With It."

This article was revisionist fanfiction based on hopeful mistranslations and was promptly mass mocked on the article comments and twitter. For a bonus, all signs appear to show Brianna then went on the Wiki Entry for Samus to try and re-write this new "history"  Talk:Samus Aran - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia fortunately the edits were undone.

Even redditors in Anti-GamerGate subs were not on board with the Samus is trans article. Brianna Wu on her article claiming Samus Aran is trans : AgainstGamerGate

"Fucking hell, people mostly agree. I think the backlash is less about transphobia and more about the fact that the article is bollocks."

And another obvious trans sign was Brianna's character illustration style which perfectly encapsulates how typical trans women portray the ideal female form, which I'd describe as an exaggerated version of a Bratz doll. Seen in earlier Brianna art pieces, this same style was shown in full force in the Revolution 60 game. Tying it all together, the purpose of this data dump is to show how insulting it is for first someone to say they had some sort of women's childhood gamer plight they never had. Additionally Brianna milked any resource to gain any sort of favor under the guise of helping women in gaming. Since Brianna is trans with narcissistic willingness to overlook reality, Revolution 60 shows no actual understanding of the types of games women are interested in and is more of a self-interest insert fantasy than even a male feminist's take on what a game for women should be.

Getting into the core history for what Brianna is known for, it appears after creating Giant SpaceKat Studios, Brianna made an effort to connect with the feminist gamer community to get favorable press and misc connection perks. The Silverstring Agenda

For those familiar with Polygon and their blatant anti-gamer stance, you're probably thinking, "of course it was on fucking polygon"

Being pre GamerGate, I'm not so surprised with these feminists writing for leftist websites, but I am surprised why any company in gaming or tech would hire these people and allow them to antagonize the core viewer base. As an example of what these women felt open to express, Samantha Allen wrote a rant on essentially being a proud misandrist:

Anyway, later down the road ol' GamerGate proper kicked off, A whole massive story in of itself. Being in the feminist gaming club, Brianna saw her chance and immediately inserted herself into the discussion with a loud anti-GamerGate stance. Some early tweets of this time include:

Brianna Wu on Twitter: "Two possibilities. A. All #Gamergate ragers are sock puppets.

And, if you read the #GamerGate hashtag, you can read the anger and organized fury being directed at women right now."

Due to going out of her way to mock those who supported GamerGate, the pushback was massive which then Brianna used to claim it as undeserved harassment and in general keeping up a theme of declaring any response was an attack on women in gaming. Many feel a good chunk of this desperation for attention was due to her Revolution 60 game being released not long before GamerGate (July 2014) and was a failure on all fronts. Although it wasn't the purpose of GamerGate, some of the more extreme sub-groups decided to respond in ways including doxing and death threats. That said, the hate supply did not always meet Brianna's demand and she was caught at least one time creating self-made harassment on the steam boards. Feeding off the baited conflict, Wu went to any place that would listen to scream bloody murder harassment and how GamerGate as a movement was simply an anti-women's movement. Unfortunately, many big name organizations did listen and amplified Wu's claims, typically with near zero pushback or journalistic curiosity to hear the other side. 

Anytime there was pushback in the slightest, which commonly would just mean asking for clarity, Brianna would claim harassment or being attacked whether it was on video interviews and especially in person. She was doing a pretty solid job jumping on the Anita Sarkeesian "women are eternal victims" bandwagon for quite some time. Now we are gonna take a time jump here, but I must emphasize if you lived through these moments, the anti-GamerGate press cycle felt eternal.

After riding out that train, Wu took an interesting new turn and decided to run for Congress in Massachusetts (2018). Many would say having never been class president, any sort of public office, just bam straight to congress displays at least some form of narcissistic delusion. 

Doing what she only knows best at this point, her main talking point was essentially "people were mean to me during GamerGate" and "Trump Bad". It turns out general voting normies had no idea who she was or what GamerGate was and had different concerns than what policy she decided to point out. Surprisingly, Wu still got 23% of the vote at democratic primary, losing to Stephen Lynch's 71%

“Is it absolutely true that a large rock fired into Earth from the moon using propellants would be more powerful and 100s of nuclear weapons"

Wu was rekt in the comments and reliably blamed criticism of her on sexism declaring: “that’s the danger of being a woman on the internet!” The post was soon deleted and for those perhaps not hip to the concept, there is still an extremely high bar to do anything in space so any sort of nuclear activity already on the planet is a much more likely threat. Additionally, the logistics to shoot a rock from the moon that is large enough with enough velocity to cause nuclear level damage would require immense resources. 

Brianna was then cooking up to try again with a 2020 congressional run, but with the pandemic in full force and still not having a chance in hell, gave up the attempt. 

Around this time, perhaps Brianna changed medications or miraculously found life introspection; either way decided to look more into core political goals and with that started to cool it with all the harassment baiting and even pushing back on some of the far left fringe actions her inner-circle groups normally accepted. This led to linking up with Cenk Uygur of TYT (The Young Turks) fame to co-founded the Rebellion PAC, self declared as:

This one was also an interesting glimpse into how mean trans can be to each other, much of this said anywhere else on reddit would be an instant ban:

Up into 2023 Brianna has plenty of shit takes to go around, but one notable example was of course supporting boycotting the Hogwarts Legacy, not due the game content, but by the mere thought JK Rowling might make money off it while suporting women's rights. 

Now Sep 26, 2023 comes along and a Leftist Breadtuber named President Sunday, notably is so annoying many other leftists hate him, did a stream releasing a discord chat including Brianna Wu comments. The stream is painful where this clown didn't even piece the screenshots together before hand so just sifts around in MSPaint trying to point out scandal. Worth mentioning, President Sunday was blocked from posting this information on the Vaush reddit group despite the user base being very interested in this information and conversation on the topic. This is likely because Brianna had recently collaborated with Vaush on the Live from VidCon: Progressive Victory Panel (2023).

So for some leaked drama background, apparently not long before this discord discussion, Bennie Carollo a trans streamer / content creator, I suppose might be a fair term, used to work for TYT however left claiming "Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur have taken increasingly transphobic stances, especially regarding trans women in sports but also more generally when it comes to trans youth getting access to gender affirming care." 

Up until this point, TYT had been known for some pretty wild far left takes, however both Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur had started to come to terms with reality and finally saw what extremes were doing to their own lives and their political goals. Bennie on the other hand is what they call a tankie where are so far pro left in concept, that they excuse communist authoritarianism as seen in USSR, China, and North Korea. Coming back together for the connection, apparently Brianna Wu and Bennie had a falling out over political differences, so just like real women, Brianna took the opportunity to talk some shit to friends. Revealed chats starting off strong showing Brianna thinks Bennie is clearly not passing and can't dress themselves properly. Anyone who has seen Brianna already loves the irony here. The messages then also reveal Brianna being what some would call based, showing disdain for neo-pronouns such as "it", regret for not calling out issues with BLM, Tankies, and the opening of the trans umbrella to include those without any sort of medial dysphoria, which includes non-binary people. 

Predictably a good chunk of Brianna's leftist fan base immediately disowned her and put her on blast through all the major social media sites. Responses that amused me included:

They cannot agree if trans or not, likely just based on the conflict of reality vs wanting to claim Brianna as a TERF. Gee left, where did all that sex status privacy respect go? ?

Brianna tried to walk things back a bit with a twitter "apology":

Notably the post was set to: Only accounts @BriannaWu follows or mentioned can reply so most of the negative comments came off-thread.

And perhaps overlooked, I appreciated how Jenny Matrix, whom was in the chat had absolute no remorse for anything. 

So yea, good times watching the left eat itself. Despite some would call Brianna Wu's recent behavior a possible redemption arc, she still shows all the signs of lying whenever determined to be convenient and general willingness to backstab what were allies. Perhaps the attention seeking methods have changed, but I assure you the drive is still there. Only time will tell, but the purpose of this article was to try and show that in the end, all attempts to collaborate with Brianna Wu have been just enabling a troubled person that has not come to terms with many personal struggles. Thus looking to Brianna Wu for sage advice on struggles as a women when never was one, a game developer when was terrible at, or as a politician when clearly unqualified, is a foolish endeavor.
